Parable of a Tapestry 2018

Graduation project with Upasana Design Studio

Auroville

 Inspiration :

The collection is inspired by shadow puppetry of Andhra Pradesh called 'Tholubommalata'.

The inspiration comes from the spirit of story telling, the unique aesthetics, the play of lines and layers and the masterful usage of lights and shadows and the beauty in the moment.

Process:

The collection is made from beautiful chitrika fabric handwoven by the women in mandipet, east godavari district, lightest jamdani from west bengal and short staple khadi from Rajasthan. The designs are a play on the traditional attire 'Kediya".
